Sarah's short hair

So I've had several people recently ask my why Sarah's hair is so short - did she cut it herself? - did she get gum in it? - am I just a mean mom who doesn't want to deal with trying to brush and style it everyday? No, no, and mostly no. Sarah has this unfortunate habit of sucking her thumb and twirling her hair. She's been doing it since she was 3 months old. She'll twirl it so much that the hair breaks or knots us so bad that we have to cut it out. We started working with her to break the hair twirling habit in Dec. She was doing great during the day, but then after she pulled out two chunks right in the front while she was sleeping, Nathan said we had to buzz her head. I called my mom and she agreed. So, reluctantly around mid-Feb. we buzzed her down with the 3/4" comb. It was a sad day for me. But, she hasn't been able to twirl it and even as it's been growing out since then, she's left it alone. We're also working with the thumb-sucking but there's no easy way to just take away her thumbs. It's finally getting long enough we can use little clippies, hairbands, and headbands. She loves it spikey, with lots of spikes are just one mohawk-dino spike down the middle. So, here are a few pictures of my beautiful, confident, pixie-punk three year old!
